CORRY DENGUEMO est une chanteuse aux origines mêlées du Cameroun et de la Centrafrique. Découverte du grand public à son arrivée dans le célèbre groupe camerounais MACASE dont elle sera le leader vocal, elle se singularise déjà par son charisme sur scène. <br />Elle parcourt, avec ce groupe, de nombreux pays (France, Afrique du Sud, Madagascar, Suisse, Belgique, Canada, Sénégal, Gabon, etc.) ce qui lui confère une présence scénique remarquée par ses pairs et les professionnels du spectacle. Elle remporte plusieurs prix prestigieux (RFI Musiques du Monde, Prix KORA du meilleur groupe espoir africain en Afrique du Sud, Prix CICIBA au Fespam). Cette reconnaissance et son talent lui permettent de travailler avec des artistes de renom comme MANU DI BANGO, LOKUA KANZA, etc. <br />UNE VOIX dans tous les sens du terme. Une voix porteuse de messages, au côté des plus faibles. Une voix ample, profonde dont le grain porte en lui une stupéfiante fusion entre la sensualité et une dynamique qui n’appartient qu’à elle. Sur scène, elle joue de multiples instruments et entraîne son public vers des danses aux mouvements rituels. Le geste accompagne le texte à la perfection faisant d’elle une artiste accomplie et aux multiples talents. <br />Elle est en effet une auteure compositeur interprète maîtrisant autant l’art de l’écriture que de la composition. Entre la femme et l’artiste il y a une alchimie qui fait d’elle une porte-parole de certaines causes. Il nome del duo è un riferimento al film Pulp Fiction, nel quale Jules, interpretato da Samuel L. Jackson, in una delle scene finali, chiede urlando ad una rapinatrice armata chiamata Yolanda di stare "quieta", "cool" in lingua originale, citando uno dei tormentoni di Fonzie. Dopo il già citato successo mondiale del 2010 con “We No Speak Americano”, tra i brani più recenti ricordiamo "Le Bump (Feat. With deep sadness and this world's loss, Manu Dibango (the Lion of Africa), has made his transition into the Light at 86 years of age to covid 19, in a hospital near Paris, according to his Facebook post. RIP Manu and thank you for the gift of your music.

SONG FACTS: A native of Cameroon, Manu Dibango has enjoyed a long career as a musician and songwriter, developing a fusion of Jazz and African musical styles. This song which was released in 1972, came early in Dibango's career, and was introduced to American listeners by the legendary New York City radio DJ Frankie Crocker on FM's WBLS radio station.
This song made the US Top 40 only briefly, but later became notable for 3 reasons. The first is its refrain, "Ma-ma-se, ma-ma-sa, ma-ma-kossa," which Michael Jackson borrowed for his 1983 hit "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'," but without Dibango's permission. Dibango eventually reached an out-of-court settlement with Jackson over the lyrics. Dibango also had filed a lawsuit against Rihanna. When Rihanna came calling in 2007, asking to sample Jackson on her song "Don't Stop the Music," Jackson agreed – allegedly without contacting DiBango. https://www.theguardian.com/mu....sic/2009/feb/04/riha The third reason is the genré, and the pop culture phenomenon, that the song set in motion.
"Soul Makossa" was so popular as a dance song that its style began to be emulated and further developed by American dance musicians - and eventually took on a life of its own. As a result, this is now widely regarded as the first Disco record. Whenever it was dropped on Dance floors in New York it lead to "dance battles." Blacks, Italians, Latino's and Whites couldn't get enough of this groove and strutted their stuff when this monster tune came on.
