In today's true crime documentary, we're covering the case of Scott Nelson and analyzing it from an educational psychological and legal perspective.
Un orage survient au cours d'une belle après-midi d'été toute la nature s'immobilise. Les oiseaux et les insectes attendent à l'abri la fin de l'averse...Mais tous les porteurs de coquilles mettent enfin le nez dehors.
Quel rêve ! Nous allons pouvoir faire connaissance avec les escargots. Je ne t'apprendrai rien en te disant qu'ils habitent tous dans une coquille aux couleurs variées et aux formes diverses. Tu connais bien celui-là, il est partout, mais d'autres sont plus originaux et ils habitent ailleurs.
Oui, il y a des escargots alpinistes qui passent toute leur vie à se promener dans les rochers.
Ce n'est pas facile d'escalader en transportant sa maison. Pas très pratique, mais ils se débrouillent bien.
Et celui-ci ? Je suis sûr que tu ne l'as pas rencontré très souvent. Chose curieuse pour un escargot, il aime bien la chaleur et habite les talus rocheux parsemés de buissons.
Enfin, pour finir ce petit coup d'œil sur les coquilles, l'escargot poilu vous salue.
Pour les limaces, c'est différent leur coquille a disparu ; mais on retrouve quelques traces sous la peau : ce sont de fines plaques de calcaire ou de cailloux.
Malgré leurs lourdes coquilles, les escargots aiment le sport. Bien, d'accord on ne peut pas dire qu'ils soient encore prêts pour les jeux olympiques, mais tout de même, ils sont capables de quelques petites acrobaties.
Le corps de l'escargot est assez spécial. C'est juste une grosse masse de muscle qui contient tous les organes vitaux dont la tête est surmontée de cornes souples. Au repos, tout cela entre dans la coquille. En revanche, l'escargot étale son pied lorsqu'il part au triple galop, pour une direction que lui seul connaît d'ailleurs...
Comment ça marche ou plutôt comment ça glisse pour lui ? Il suffit de le poser délicatement sur une plaque de verre pour apercevoir les contractions du muscle qui vont d'arrière en avant. Ces mouvements répétés le font glisser sur une mince couche de liquide gluant qu'il produit au fur et à mesure qu'il avance.
Notre ami de tout à l'heure a une autre technique. Regarde son pied semble divisé en deux parties qui avancent l'une après l'autre.
Il ne va pas plus vite pour autant, il n'a qu'un sabot pour deux pieds.
Parlons maintenant des cornes des escargots. Ils en ont quatre. Deux petites placées près de leur bouche et deux grandes, très longues, au-dessus de la tête. Au sommet, on voit un minuscule point qui est en fait l'œil de l'escargot.
Ces cornes très sensibles aident l'escargot à se repérer dans la nature, et le moindre contact les fait immédiatement se rétracter.
Les escargots ont une façon originale de se reproduire. Pour faire des bébés, ils ont, pour la plupart, l'étonnante possibilité d'être à la fois mâle et femelle.
Mais il y a plus étonnant encore : les escargots fabriquent dans leur corps une petite pointe, qu'ils vont se planter les uns les autres dans le corps au moment de l'accouplement ! Etrange manie non ? Mais s'ils ne font pas ça, il n'y aura pas de bébés escargots plus tard.
L'accouplement dure souvent plus d'une heure !
Quand ils se séparent, l'escargot qui a joué le rôle de la femelle peut se mettre à pondre. Les gros escargots de Bourgogne, comme beaucoup d'autres, enterrent leurs œufs dans la terre humide.
Et il y en a beaucoup. Selon les espèces, le nombre varie de 20 à plus de cent. Ce sont de petite billes blanches de quelques millimètres, qui resteront cinq ou six semaines dans le sol avant de donner naissance à de minuscules bébés escargots.
Dès leur éclosion, les petits ressemblent à leurs parents. On dirait des miniatures. Et si tout se passe bien pour eux, c'est à dire s'ils ne sont pas mangés par d'autres animaux, il leur faudra en général une année pour devenir adulte, et faire des bébés à leur tour.
