🔵 Résumé.
Dans un monde imaginaire, une amulette de paix assure depuis des siècles l'harmonie entre les humains et les dragons (les Innommables), sous l'oeil complice de la grande prêtresse Thar. Celle-ci est la gardienne des portes du temple d'Atuan où sont enfermées les créatures maléfiques. Mais, un jour, l'amulette fut brisée par la convoitise des hommes. Le mal s'incarna alors en la personne du roi Tygath, qui lança une invasion sur les 1100 îles de Terremer. Tyhath est alors prêt à tout pour libérer les Innommables, afin d'obtenir l'immortalité. Mais bientôt, une prophétie se répand dans les contrées insulaires : un jeune sorcier reconstituera l'amulette et ramènera la paix sur Terremer.
