Jouant avec la grammaire du documentaire animalier, une exploration inédite des comportements humains, qui mêle humour et enseignements scientifiques étonnants.
Parmi les quelque 7 millions d’espèces animales qui peuplent la planète, l’une d’entre elles affiche sa singularité : Homo sapiens. Mais alors que ses sens sont limités, comparés à ceux des autres animaux, comment expliquer que ce bipède au pouce préhenseur se soit répandu sur l’ensemble de la surface terrestre ? En immersion dans un camping – l’homme laissant volontiers apparaître sa vraie nature durant la migration des vacances estivales –, deux naturalistes quinquagénaires vont observer un groupe d’individus pour mettre en lumière des comportements typiques de l’espèce : facultés d’apprentissage et soif de connaissances, activités physiques, goût du jeu, interactions sociales, rituels de séduction…
Un animal comme les autres ?
Si les hommes n’ont pas la capacité de courir aussi vite que les autruches ni de copuler deux cents fois par jour comme les punaises de lit, ils ne sont pas les seuls à craindre les chatouilles : les rats et les chimpanzés rient aussi lorsqu’on les stimule de la sorte ! S’amusant des similitudes et des distinctions entre les espèces, Homo animalis… passe à la loupe les comportements humains en les replaçant dans une perspective évolutive, avec le concours de deux naturalistes un brin loufoques. Doté d’un puissant cortex cérébral qui lui permet d’inventer des outils de génie, Homo sapiens reste guidé par son "cerveau reptilien" pour tout ce qui touche à sa survie : alimentation, sexualité, liens sociaux… S’appuyant sur une dramaturgie empruntée aux programmes animaliers, ce documentaire narré par Féodor Atkine offre un regard à la fois décalé et instructif sur l’homme, ses succès retentissants mais aussi sa cupidité destructrice. Ce faisant, il nous invite à réfléchir à notre place dans le vivant, à l’heure où de nouveaux périls menacent directement notre avenir et celui des autres espèces.

Qualifié de mal du 21e siècle, le burn out touche plus de 300 millions de personnes dans le monde. Pourtant, l’OMS ne l’a toujours pas reconnu comme maladie professionnelle. En réalisant ce documentaire, Tristan a voulu mieux comprendre ce symptôme d’épuisement émotionnel, ce qu’il signifie vraiment et si oui ou non il s’en est lui-même approché.
Pourquoi le burn out est-il souvent évoqué pour parler d’une fatigue qui ne serait pas si grave, ou pire, « comme si on devait l’accepter comme faisant partie du package du succès » ? En quittant le journalisme pour intégrer le monde des startups, Tristan découvre de nouveaux mots comme levée de fonds, hypercroissance, rentabilité… Malgré sa passion pour son travail, il se lève un matin en se disant qu’il a « plus de mal, moins d’entrain », malgré l’envie de continuer à porter ses projets.
Au fil du documentaire, Tristan part à la rencontre de personnes qui ont vécu un burn out, comme Mathilde qui explique qu' « on a beau tout donner, ce n'est pas suffisant. On coule quand même ». A son tour, le réalisateur se pose des questions sur ses propres coups de fatigue, interloqué par la manière dont réagissent les autres à ce sujet ( « C’est rien, t’es en burn out, prends des vacances »).
Grâce aux témoignages de professionnels, on découvre les risques que fait peser le burn out sur la santé, et en quoi ce mal ne cesse de progresser dans la société.
Aux côtés de Tristan, partez en quête de réponses pour mieux appréhender ce sujet qui reste encore tabou dans le monde professionnel.
