Quand on découvre l’archipel de Sao Tomé-et-Principe, ces îles « du milieu du monde », délicatement posées au croisement de l’Equateur et du méridien de Greenwich, on pose le pied dans un paradis terrestre. Un endroit tellement discret que le tourisme y est presque confidentiel. L’archipel, plus petit Etat d’Afrique baignant dans le golfe de Guinée, a aussi été une colonie portugaise. Les Portugais sont partis en 1975, laissant derrière eux des fantômes : des propriétés coloniales perdues au milieu de la forêt. On les appelle les roças.
