Ismael Lo nasce no Níger em 1956 de pai senegalês e mãe Nigeriana vem viver para o Senegal. Ainda novo forma a banda Super Diamono. Em 1988 começa a sua carreira a solo e, em 1996 com o CD Jammu África é considerado o melhor cantor compositor de África.
Ismael Lo was born in Rufisque, Senegal, the son of a Senegalese father and Nigerian mother. Lo is the only one who became a musician. He loved music from an early age and got his start playing a homemade one-string guitar. Early American influences included Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Etta James, and he learned their songs by listening to the radio. At first he only played for the joy of it and never considered performing, but then an older brother, who owned a club, asked him to play on a local television show. Lo said no the first time, and continued to study decorating and painting at a trade school, but a few months later he reconsidered and appeared on the show. He was an instant hit and this inspired him to think about performing full-time. In 1979, a singer/songwriter invited him to play in a band, called Super Diamono Ð a super group, , that played mbalax-blues. Lo, with his talent for guitar playing and song writing, quickly established himself as a key figure in the band and soon became the second lead singer, backup singer and rhythm guitarist. By the early '80s he found himself wanting to launch a solo career, but felt like he would leave a gaping hole in the band that could destroy it. In 1984, the pressure became too much and he left for Spain to do some painting. He began recording as a solo artist upon his return. Ismael Lo participates in creating an acute awareness of the hiv virus and the havoc it causes in Africa. He produced and acted in a mini-movie regarding the issue.
To date he remains actively involved in sensitising and informing Africa on the epidemic. Among his many talents besides singing are; painting, writing and acting.

Au moment où le Liban traverse une crise existentielle des plus aigües, retour sur l'histoire du Hezbollah, parti controversé soutenu par l’Iran. Un récit de l’intérieur qui bénéficie de témoignages inédits des combattants chiites eux-mêmes.
En juin 1982, sous l’impulsion de son ministre de la Défense Ariel Sharon, Israël envahit le sud du Liban dans le but de liquider Yasser Arafat, réfugié à Beyrouth, et l'OLP. Pour lutter contre l’offensive de Tsahal, un petit groupe de guérilla se constitue dans la clandestinité en fusionnant différentes formations chiites. Formé et soutenu par la République islamique d’Iran de l'ayatollah Khomeiny, il se déclare officiellement en 1985 sous le nom de Hezbollah : le "parti de Dieu". Quarante ans plus tard, le petit groupe est devenu l’une des principales forces, armée et politique, du Moyen-Orient. Mouvement de résistance légitime et populaire pour les uns, groupe terroriste pour les autres, le Hezbollah, autant admiré que redouté, traverse pourtant une épreuve déterminante. Alors que le Liban est plongé dans une crise politique et économique majeure, une partie de sa population accuse ses dirigeants de corruption et de faillite. Le Hezbollah n’échappe pas aux critiques. Ouvertement remis en cause, le parti se retrouve à l’heure des choix : demeurer le pion stratégique de l’Iran dans la région ou s’affranchir de cette tutelle pour se mettre entièrement au service des intérêts du Liban et de sa population.
Culte du secret
Cultivant le culte du secret sur son organisation, le "parti de Dieu" s'est toujours montré rétif à tout regard extérieur, a fortiori journalistique. François-Xavier Trégan (Yémen, le chaos et le silence, Ashbal – Les lionceaux du califat) parvient pourtant à recueillir la parole de ses combattants et partisans d’hier et d’aujourd'hui. Les membres du parti n’esquivent aucune question, quitte à remettre en cause les choix du passé, conférant ainsi un caractère exceptionnel à leur témoignage. À Beyrouth, dans la vallée de la Bekaa et dans le sud du Liban, les voix du Hezbollah évoquent ses décennies d’évolution et son avenir incertain, suspendu en permanence entre effondrement et reconstruction.
