Ismael Lo nasce no Níger em 1956 de pai senegalês e mãe Nigeriana vem viver para o Senegal. Ainda novo forma a banda Super Diamono. Em 1988 começa a sua carreira a solo e, em 1996 com o CD Jammu África é considerado o melhor cantor compositor de África.

Ismael Lo was born in Rufisque, Senegal, the son of a Senegalese father and Nigerian mother. Lo is the only one who became a musician. He loved music from an early age and got his start playing a homemade one-string guitar. Early American influences included Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Etta James, and he learned their songs by listening to the radio. At first he only played for the joy of it and never considered performing, but then an older brother, who owned a club, asked him to play on a local television show. Lo said no the first time, and continued to study decorating and painting at a trade school, but a few months later he reconsidered and appeared on the show. He was an instant hit and this inspired him to think about performing full-time. In 1979, a singer/songwriter invited him to play in a band, called Super Diamono Ð a super group, , that played mbalax-blues. Lo, with his talent for guitar playing and song writing, quickly established himself as a key figure in the band and soon became the second lead singer, backup singer and rhythm guitarist. By the early '80s he found himself wanting to launch a solo career, but felt like he would leave a gaping hole in the band that could destroy it. In 1984, the pressure became too much and he left for Spain to do some painting. He began recording as a solo artist upon his return. Ismael Lo participates in creating an acute awareness of the hiv virus and the havoc it causes in Africa. He produced and acted in a mini-movie regarding the issue.

To date he remains actively involved in sensitising and informing Africa on the epidemic. Among his many talents besides singing are; painting, writing and acting.

Pour le grand public, les serpents ne sont que des animaux sans pattes à sang froid. Ils sont souvent associés au côté venimeux. Pourtant, ils sont fascinants par leurs particularités et leur diversité. Ces reptiles se caractérisent notamment par l'allongement considérable de leur corps qui est uniforme tout au long des vertèbres et des côtes, et par l'absence de membres. Leur peau, loin d'être ordinaire, porte des écailles cornées. Les serpents possèdent également des “lunettes”, ce qui fait que leurs paupières sont soudées et transparentes. Ils sont de redoutables prédateurs. Les serpents n’ont pas toujours eu cette morphologie que nous connaissons aujourd’hui, voici l'histoire de ces animaux hors du commun.

L’histoire de la Terre est un immense livre rempli de chapitres où se mêlent calme, tempêtes et rebondissements. Dans cette histoire, la vie a colonisé l'ensemble des milieux terrestres. Ses traces se retrouvent sur tous les continents, des plus hauts sommets jusqu'aux abysses. La biodiversité évolue sans cesse. Cette mécanique évolutive est fondée sur la variabilité génétique des individus au sein des populations et se manifeste sous les contraintes imposées par les conditions du milieu où vivent les individus. C'est ainsi que certains lézards ont évolué en serpents et que ces mêmes serpents, qui arboraient à la base une taille relativement modeste, se retrouvèrent longs de plus d'une dizaine de mètres, avant de disparaître.
C’est durant l’ère du Mésozoïque que débute l’aventure des premiers serpents. Il s’agit d’une période des temps géologiques qui se limite par deux grandes crises biologiques majeures. Elle commence il y a 251 millions d'années, au lendemain de l’extinction du Permien, et se termine il y a 65,5 millions d'années avec une nouvelle catastrophe qui provoquera une extinction de masse. Le Mésozoïque dure plus de 185 millions d'années. Une des principales caractéristiques de cette période est que la Pangée, le supercontinent de l’époque, se divise et dessine l’ouverture de l'océan Atlantique. Il en résulte une forte activité volcanique qui intervient au niveau des rides océaniques et des points chauds. Du dioxyde de carbone s'accumule dans l'atmosphère et un climat à fort effet de serre s'installe. Il fait chaud. Ces conditions agréables font du Mésozoïque une période particulièrement propice au développement de la vie. Les reptiles se développent et se diversifient d'une manière extraordinaire avec notamment les reptiles marins, les premiers dinosaures et les reptiles volants. C'est par ailleurs grâce à eux que le Mésozoïque a été désigné comme « l'âge des reptiles ». Il n'en demeure pas moins que d'autres espèces se font remarquer. C'est le cas des oiseaux qui font leur apparition et des mammifères. Dans les océans, les mollusques céphalopodes comme les bélemnites et les ammonites dominent les eaux. La flore se plaît également dans cette atmosphère presque tropicale et subit une forte diversification avec les gymnospermes puis les angiospermes, qui sont les plantes à fleurs, qui supplantent progressivement ces dernières à la fin du Mésozoïque. La catégorie qui nous intéresse et qui s’est fait une place de choix au niveau du règne animal durant le Mésozoïque est celle des serpents. À côté de l'évolution des dinosaures, ces derniers semblent parfois oubliés, à tort. Et pourtant, ils font preuve d’une véritable capacité d’adaptation à leur environnement et d’une évolution incroyable. Si incroyable, que certains d’entre eux atteignent même des tailles considérables, jusqu’à 14 mètres de long. Si le serpent est un animal qui suscite la fascination, mais aussi la peur aujourd'hui, les émotions auraient encore été plus intenses si nous avions croisé à l'époque le chemin de ces serpents géants dont le plus célèbre représentant est Titanoboa.

Comment ces serpents ont-ils évolué depuis leurs ancêtres reptiliens ? Comment ont-ils développé ces attributs morphologiques qui les caractérisent tant ? Et comment ont-ils réussi à atteindre des tailles exceptionnelles les catégorisant au rang de géants ?

Le Rif est en ébullition.  La fin d’un tabou se joue dans la région montagneuse la plus rebelle du Maroc. Le roi a légalisé la culture du cannabis thérapeutique, cosmétique et industriel en dotant le pays d’une agence nationale de régulation.

Une première dans l’histoire du pays : ministres, industriels et laboratoires pharmaceutiques défilent dans le grenier à cannabis. Un peu comme si la corruption, la méfiance réciproque et le passé sulfureux du Rif venaient miraculeusement de s'effacer.
Considéré comme le plus grand producteur au monde de résine de cannabis, le Maroc a toujours affiché une politique de répression sévère du trafic de haschich.
Aujourd’hui, la volonté du roi est de banaliser la culture du cannabis en encadrant sa production, pour en faire une filière agricole parmi d’autres. Le but est de « reconvertir les cultures illicites destructrices de l’environnement en activités légales durables et génératrices de valeur et d’emploi », selon le projet de loi diffusé par les autorités. A la clé : une manne financière colossale. Le royaume chérifien entend bien se positionner sur un marché mondial en pleine croissance qui représente plus de 30% par an, entraîné dans le sillage d’une progression de 60% au niveau européen.
Attirés par l’or vert du Maroc, de nombreux industriels ne cachent pas leurs ambitions, suscitant l’inquiétude des producteurs de cannabis. Rencontre avec ces agriculteurs qui vivent en marge depuis des décennies et qui craignent un destin à la botte des groupes pharmaceutiques.
