Qui dit torture dit supplice, châtiment, hérétiques, cages en fer, roues crantées et pieux pointus… Bref, pas mal de clichés nourris par nos imaginaires, comme au cinéma par exemple, qui a fourni des scènes atroces, mais aussi fascinantes, comme des divertissements macabres plutôt cruels. Et ce cliché est encore pire quand on parle de la fameuse “torture chinoise”, complètement fantasmée par les occidentaux comme un truc hyper pervers, sophistiqué, et à la pointe de la cruauté. Mais est-ce que ça ne serait pas plus compliqué, comme par exemple “notre” Inquisition, qui torture parfois, mais qui reste avant tout une police de la pensée, qui contrôle les populations en se basant surtout sur une tonne de paperasses juridiques ? Peut-être qu’en Chine aussi, il y a eu une méthode d’interrogatoire, des lois, des réformes qui ont impacté la pratique de la torture ? C’est ce qu’on va voir aujourd'hui !

Face au changement climatique mondial, les quantités de CO₂ issues des industries et des transports qui sont rejetés dans l’atmosphère sont largement pointés du doigt. Afin que l’humanité et la planète puissent envisager un futur viable à l’horizon 2100, il est urgent de trouver une alternative durable à nos énergies fossiles. Et dans cette quête d’un futur « or vert », l’hydrogène fait figure de sérieux concurrent, surtout dans le domaine de la mobilité lourde.
Train, fret maritime, transport routier : l’hydrogène pourrait demain trouver sa place dans un réseau de transport décarboné. Encore faut-il parvenir à le dompter. Ce gaz est depuis longtemps au cœur des travaux de nombreux laboratoires français qui nous ont ouvert leurs portes. De l'institut FEMTO-ST de Belfort spécialisé dans les piles à combustibles jusqu’à l’Institut Jean Rouxel à Nantes qui invente de nouveaux matériaux en passant par le laboratoire Icare d’Orléans qui interroge l’explosivité de ce gaz, ce film nous plonge dans les coulisses de cette course à l’hydrogène, soutenue massivement par l’investissement public. C’est dans ces laboratoires que se prépare peut-être le monde de demain. Côté industriel, Alstom et l’équipe d’Energy Observer nous font découvrir la puissance de cet hydrogène déjà déployée sur différents types de transports.
La question n’est plus désormais de savoir si cette mobilité à hydrogène va se développer mais plutôt à quel rythme...
