Les portraits de quatre acteurs du monde financier permettent de revenir sur la crise qui a remis en cause le sytème bancaire mondial en 2008. Parmi eux, Jérôme Kerviel, trader français de la Société générale, accusé par sa banque d'avoir perdu des milliards d'euros. Les décisions prises par Henry Paulson, secrétaire du Trésor américain, ont déstabilisé le système financier. Le départ de la panique générale peut être attribué à la faillite de la banque Lehman Borthers, dirigée par Richard Fuld. Quant à Bernard Madoff, il est désormais considéré comme le plus grand escroc boursier de tous les temps.
